Surfing on the Costa Rican Coast of the Central Pacific


The Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica is surfing for all skill levels - something for everyone. The beach has a beautiful mountain backdrop and the climate is generally dry and humid - there is rain but the landscape creates stunning views of the jungle and lush flora. The Pacific Coast part of central Costa Rica is considered one of Costa Rica's most visited coastal areas.

Herradura Beach works for Local Surfers


Playa Herradura just north of Jaco is a favorite spot for locals. This horseshoe-shaped beach and with calm waters for swimmers. This is a popular surfing destination with classic waves for experienced surfers. The coral breakthrough that peaked on the left and with sharp rocks along the seabed is surely a location for experienced surfers. The long waves average 150 meters in length but can sometimes be as long as 200 meters.

Jaco Beach is perfect for all surfers


Playa Jaco is a surf place! This is truly a wave mill on the middle pacific coast with the most consistent year-round waves and over 3½ miles of beach that offers excellent exposure to swell from all directions. Beginners and experienced surfers alike enjoy this area, but the challenge occurs with strong currents and riptides in these areas. At night, Jaco comes alive with many restaurants and bars.

Hermosa Beach for Expert Surfers


Playa Hermosa is just beautiful with its soft gray beach, home to one of the greatest beach breaks. It is regarded as one of the best surfing locations for professionals in the country that offers the best and most consistent surfing surfing in the world, although the current is so strong that Playa Hermosa is largely an expert surfing beach with 13 feet of waves. The Quicksilver International Championship Championship is held here every year and is popular for surfers challenged by seven different wave spots.
